Nadia Kenisha Bynoe
Early Reading Coach, Toronto District School Board
Nadia Kenisha Bynoe has been teaching for eight years in the Toronto District School Board as a French Immersion Kindergarten educator and now services many schools as an Early Reading Coach. She currently instructs the Kindergarten Additional Qualification course at York University and Elementary Teacher Federation of Ontario. Kenisha is the author of Shades of Me, Shade of Happiness and The Right Shade for Me. These three books address issues of social justice and unearth the complexities of skin complexion. She is passionate about teaching and building positive self-image for young children. She has a Master’s from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education in the department of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education and graduated from Windsor University where she earned her Bachelor of Education with a focus on Urban Education and Native studies. Angelique Thompson
Early Reading Coach, Toronto District School Board
With sixteen years of experience teaching in Primary, Junior and Intermediate Divisions, in the Toronto District School Board, Angelique Thompson now services many schools as an Early Reading Coach in Canada’s largest school board. She is the recipient of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto Excellence in Teaching Equity Award, 2009 and The Toronto District School Board’s Celebrating Excellence in the TDSB Award for Program/Project Excellence, 2010. She graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology. Angelique is currently a Curriculum Writer for the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario’s Women’s Equity Project which is Ontario’s first feminist centred curriculum for Junior and Intermediate division educators. Her recent article, "Sisters in the Struggle: Racialized Women and Microagressions in the Workplace," was published in ETFO Voice, Summer 2018.
